The element of luck can sometimes lead to some… less than stellar players winning the Main Event, leaving the entire poker world thinking, “That should have been me!” But isn’t that what big poker tournaments are all about? The major selling point to the general public is that, yes, anyone can win a tournament if they play well enough or catch a hot run of cards. We all know that it takes a lot of skill to win the Main Event, but it also takes a lot of luck no matter how good you are, you need to win your all-ins when you’re playing a nine-day tournament.
